Directions to RiverDance

When you get out into the rural parts of Western North Carolina, there is often limited cell phone coverage. While close to RiverDance you should be able to use your cellphone if you have service from Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular or another carrier that has roaming agreements with US Cellular. You will not be able to use your cell phones if your service is provided by ATT or T-Mobile.

The marker on the Google Map above is at the intersection of US 25/70 and NC 208, about 1 mile away from RiverDance. The name of that area is actually Hurricane. If you click on the “View Larger Map” link on the bottom left of that map, it will take you to a more general Google Maps page. If click on the Directions link underneath the Hurricane name, type in your starting location and you will get turn by turn directions from your staring location to Hurricane.

Directions from Asheville: Take I26 West towards Johnson City and get off at exit 19. There take the US 25/70 towards Hot Springs, about 19 miles until you reach the intersection of US 25/70 and NC 208. Go straight onto NC 208. Signs will say to Greeneville Tn. Follow NC 208 1 mile until you reach the main entrance, just before the bridge, of Bear River Lodge, home of RiverDance. Please do not turn into the Bear River Lodge construction entrance. Go up the gravel road that follows the Laurel till you see the lodge. Take a hard right on the paved road to the right of the lodge and go to the third road on the left, Deer Leap. We are the second house in on Deer Leap.

Directions from Knoxville: Take I 40 East towards Asheville and get off at exit 435 in Newport Tn. Go North about 1 mile until you hit US 25/70. Continue on US 25/70 into Hot Springs (around 25 miles). Staying on US 25/70 go through Hot Springs, over the French Broad River and another five miles. When US 25/70 comes to a T intersection with NC 208, turn left onto NC 208. Signs will say to Greeneville Tn. Follow NC 208 1 mile until you reach the main entrance, just before the bridge, of Bear River Lodge, home of RiverDance. Please do not turn into the Bear River Lodge construction entrance. Go up the gravel road that follows the Laurel till you see the lodge. Take a hard right on the paved road to the right of the lodge and go to the third road on the left, Deer Leap. We are the second house in on Deer Leap.

Directions from Atlanta Ga: There are two common ways to get from Atlanta to RiverDance. Using primarily Interstates, take I85 North out of Atlanta for ~190 miles to Spartenburg Sc. There take I26 West towards Asheville. In Asheville continue to take I26 West going towards Johnson City and get off at exit 19. There take the US 25/70 towards Hot Springs, about 19 miles until you reach the intersection of US 25/70 and NC 208. Go straight onto NC 208. Signs will say to Greeneville Tn. The scenic route from Atlanta starts by taking I85 North until you can exit onto I985/US23 North. Take I985/US23 ~95 miles North crossing into North Carolina and continue onto Waynesville NC. Just South of Waynesville exit onto US74 North (Smokey Mountain Expressway) and follow that less than 10 miles until you can merge onto I40 going East towards Asheville. Take I40 East around 20 miles until you can take the exit for I26 West. Continue to take I26 West going towards Johnson City and get off at exit 19. There take the US 25/70 towards Hot Springs, about 19 miles until you reach the intersection of US 25/70 and NC 208. Go straight onto NC 208. Signs will say to Greeneville Tn.
